Considered as one of the richest literatures in history, the Bible is considered to have a rich collection of symbolisms. The books of Revelation and Daniel contain several numbers which are believed to have symbolic meanings. Biblical numerology is about symbolisms and symbolic meanings portrayed within the Bible.
A number of scholars have devoted their time in studying numerology in the Bible, and among them are E.W. Bullinger, Ivan Panin, and Dr. Milo Mahan. Bullinger, in fact, wrote a book entitled “Number in Scripture,” which was inspired by Mahan’s “Palmoni.” Panin, on the other hand, came up with numeric patterns he claimed to be found in the Bible.
One of the most famous number combinations in Biblical numerology is 666. This number is considered as the number of the beast or of the devil.
Other numbers known to have symbolic meanings in Biblical numerology are 3, 7, 10, and 12.
Number 3 denotes “divine perfection,” with the Divine Trinity (the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) as a concrete manifestation. It also means “completeness.” A lot of references to this number can be found in both testaments of the Bible. Aside from the Holy Trinity, Jesus Christ was dead for three days before he resurrected.
Number 7 also means “complete or full.” This meaning was derived from the Hebrew words for these concepts. Number 7 also means “spiritual perfection.”
Number 10, on the other hand, means ordinal perfection, while 12 refers to governmental perfection. With Jesus’ 12 disciples, the 12 months in a year, 12 cycles governing days and nights, and 12 Israel tribes, 12 is considered to be of great importance in the Bible.
